Chocolate Covered strawberries are not only for Valentine’s Day. They are perfect trets all year around. I like to make them when it is strawberries season. Freshly picked strawberries from the farm and covered into chocolate is my favorite dessert in the summer.

How to make Chocolate Covered strawberries
Ingredients
- 2 lbs large strawberries with stems, washed and dried very well
- 1 cup chocolate melts
Wash strawberries and fully wipe them. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper or waxed paper.
Melt chocolate using double boiler method. Put chocolate into heatproof bowl. Do not use plastic bowl! Fill medium saucepan with a couple inches of water and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Turn the heat to low and place bowl with chocolate over the water to melt. Mix the chocolate as it softens, until completely melted.
Can I melt chocolate the microwave?
Yes, melt chocolate in the microwave using 30 seconds intervals and mixing until melted.
Holding strawberry by the stem, dip into the chocolate, letting any excess chocolate fall back into the bowl. Place strawberries on the parchment paper. Repeat with the rest of strawberries.
Tip from Marina: I like to use bamboo skewers to hold strawberries for dipping. I place them into tall jar or onto foam block for chocolate to set. This way strawberries look beautiful from any side.
Decorate strawberries with different colors of chocolate or sprinkle with nuts.
Optional toppings for strawberries
- Melted chocolate (dark, milk, ruby, white)
- Chopped pistachios or other nuts
- Sliced almonds
- Colorful sprinkles
- Mini chocolate chips
- Edible gold
Tips for making chocolate covered strawberries
- Use chocolate melts not chocolate chips.
- Pick big and tasty strawberries from the store
- Wash and dry strawberries before dipping, this will ensure the chocolate stick well to berry.
How to store chocolate covered strawberries
Store berries in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for 1-2 days. I like to put a peace of parchment paper on the bottom of the container.
