Ingredients you’ll need

  • Butter. Unsalted butter. Salted butter will also work for this recipe.
  • Chocolate. Dark chocolate.
  • Egg. Eggs room temperature
  • Sugar. Granulated white sugar
  • Flour. All-purpose flour
  • Salt. Pinch of salt

How to make this recipe

In a small saucepan over lover heat, melt unsalted butter and chocolate. You can also use the microwave. Set aside to cool for 10-15 minutes. Whisk together eggs with sugar for 3-4 min with a hand mixer. Sift all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt. Add the sifted ingredients to the egg mixture. Fold with a spatula until all combine. Add melted chocolate with butter and mix again. Fill prepared Silpat 28 Hole Mini Heart Tray.

Tip from Marina: I like to use a pastry bag. You can also use two spoons and fill the baking tray.

From this recipe, I baked two full Silpat trays. That’s 56 hearts.  While you bake one tray, leave the remaining batter in the pipping bag or bowl at room temperature. Do not put it into the fridge! Bake at 325oF for 12-14 min, or a toothpick inserted into the center will come out dry. Let the baking tray cool, and remove the hearts to parchment paper.

Tip from Marina: If you need to melt a small amount of chocolate, you can melt it in the pastry bag. Simply fill a pastry bag with chocolate and melt it in hot water or microwave.
